SEPAG Mission
The mission of the West Essex Regional School District’s Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) is to encourage honest and effective communication, understanding, and mutual respect in a supportive partnership inclusive of all students, parents, educators and the community. SEPAG’s goal is to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to students who receive special services, and to identify and provide the information parents need to be effective partners in the special education process.
A Message from the SEPAG Co-Presidents
Hello from your SEPAG Co-Presidents, Wendy Montano and Jennifer Boyle! SEPAG, or Special Education Parent Advisory Group, is an advocacy organization for the families of students who receive special services. Our SEPAG is comprised of both parents and district professionals, working together to better meet the needs of students.
Our SEPAG goals include:
- Serving as an advocate for students and their families by facilitating effective communication between parents and the special services department
- Encouraging parent involvement in the special education process
- Providing a forum for sharing ideas, asking questions, gathering information and offering suggestions
- Sponsoring presentations and workshops on topics of interest to parents
- Coordinating fun and engaging social opportunities for students in the community
By working together, we can have a positive impact on the delivery of special services. We add an important voice to the dialogue and decision-making process in the special services department. SEPAG is here for YOU, and we welcome the opportunity to collaborate and share resources, thoughts, concerns and ideas that will support our children. Your participation helps all of us to become more effective advocates.
