West Essex Valedictorian & Salutatorian Recognized at County Awards Ceremony

On May 12, 2026, more than 30 high schools across Essex County gathered at Nanina’s in the Park in Belleville, NJ, for the annual Essex County Academic Awards Ceremony, an evening dedicated to recognizing outstanding academic achievement and student success.

The event brought together students, families, and school leaders to honor valedictorians and salutatorians from across the county. West Essex High School was proudly represented by two exceptional students who exemplify academic excellence and leadership within the school community.

This year’s honorees were Valedictorian Talia Machin, who will attend Villanova University, and Salutatorian Siena Jacobs, who will continue her studies at the University of Michigan.

Superintendent Damion Macioci joined HS Principal Dr. Kimberly Westervelt, HS Guidance Counselor Kimberly Greulich, and the students’ families in celebrating this significant achievement. The evening highlighted not only academic success, but also the character, dedication, and perseverance that have defined these students’ high school careers.

WE extends its heartfelt congratulations to Talia and Siena, as well as their families, on this well-deserved recognition and wishes them continued success in their future academic endeavors!
