West Essex High School Announces ShopRite Stars for MP4

Congratulations to our ShopRite Stars for Marking Period 4!

Zachary Cho for Academics

Zachary has maintained a perfect straight-A record throughout high school while completing 10 Honors and 10 AP courses. Having exhausted the school's traditional math sequence, he will pursue an independent study in Linear Algebra next year. Despite his impressive achievements, Zach is known for his humility and strong work ethic.

Jasmine Cordero for Leadership

Jasmine is a leader in all that she does. She has challenged herself through a rigorous schedule of Honors and AP courses while remaining actively involved in extracurricular activities and community service. She has participated in soccer, volunteered through Key Club, worked at a school in Africa, and assisted with animal rescue efforts in South Africa. Jasmine is also involved in numerous school organizations and serves as a leader on the Student Voice Committee. She plans to pursue a degree in Pre-Med.

Justin Fredella for Athletics

Justin has established himself as one of the top distance runners in the county. A member of the track and field program, he has earned four varsity letters in winter track, qualified for the Group 2 State Championships in both the 1600- and 3200-meter events, remained undefeated in the 1600 meters this season, and earned a medal at the prestigious Night of 1600 Meters invitational. He was also part of a school-record relay team this spring.

Ellie Holinstat for Service to the Community

Ellie is being recognized for her outstanding commitment to community service. Through Friendship Circle, she has volunteered more than 400 hours working with children with special needs and has earned the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for the past three years. Ellie also volunteers at a local senior citizen center and helps raise therapy dogs that regularly visit residents.

Maddox Van Do for The Arts

Maddox has demonstrated a strong passion for the arts through his involvement in Film Club, Stage Crew, and numerous acting, animation, voiceover, and improv programs. He has studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, volunteers with the Montclair Film Festival, and continues to develop his talents in filmmaking and performance.
