14th Straight Win, 13th Straight Title, & New School Record: HS & MS FH Among the Best in the Nation

The nationally acclaimed West Essex High School Field Hockey Team won their 14th straight Essex County Tournament against Montclair Kimberly Academy this past Saturday! The team, led by renowned head coach Jill Cosse, is currently ranked as the #6 team in the nation, and their schedule certainly shows it as they played 8 of the top 25 teams in the country this season.

During the game, senior Adelaide Minnella scored 4 goals and made West Essex school history, breaking a 58 year old scoring record previously held by 1995 graduate Olympian Michelle Vizzuso (145g, 58 assists, 348 career points). Adelaide also broke our all time school assist record previously held by 2025 graduate Sophie Sisco, who is currently playing at Boston College (103 assists), this past September, as well as the all time points record held by 2011 graduate Natalie Cafone (135g, 88a, 354 points). Adie currently has 146 goals,110 assists, and 402 total career points.

At WEMS, the 7th and 8th grade field hockey team won their 13th straight GMC championship title by a score of 9 - 1. They played incredibly in the championship game, with dynamic passing and beautiful play. Congrats to the coaches Jarrod Cappello, Bettina Plesnitzer, and Gabriella Panzarino, and all our girls on a job well done!

Congratulations to all of our field hockey athletes and coaches - GO KNIGHTS!
