The West Essex Field Hockey program has added another historic chapter to its legacy. This weekend, the Knights, ranked No. 2 in New Jersey and among the top 15 teams in the nation, captured their 7th consecutive, and 23rd overall, Group 2 State Championship with a 2–0 victory over No. 6 Point Pleasant Boro in Bordentown!
The win capped an impressive 20-5 season in which West Essex faced some of the toughest competition both statewide and nationally. But the championship wasn’t the only milestone of the day.
The victory marked the 600th career win for Head Coach Jill Cosse, a remarkable achievement that reflects decades of dedication, leadership, and sustained excellence. Reaching 600 wins places Cosse among an elite group of coaches in the sport and further underscores her profound impact on the West Essex program.
