The West Essex Middle and High School Student Councils honored Support Staff this year with Holiday Luncheons. The events featured delicious catered food and performances, as student council and district leaders thanked the staff for all that they do to keep West Essex running smoothly.

In the Middle School, the Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Christa Rizzo, performed three holiday tunes for Staff members as they enjoyed their food. Student council members addressed attendees and noted that West Essex wouldn’t be the place it is without the work of the fabulous support staff.

At the High School, Mrs. Andrea Mondadori presented three awards. First, the Silver Knight award was presented to James Joanow. This award is given to a support staff member whose record of service to the school and community best exemplifies an unselfish and continuous use of one's talent in helping others. Second, the Victor E. Knight award was presented to Pat McGlynn. This award recognizes a staff member that goes above and beyond outside the classroom for extra curricular activities. And the final award, the Support Staffer of the Year, was awarded to Michelle McOwen. This award recognizes outstanding dedication, compassion, and exceptional contributions in a school setting. Michelle is a classroom aide who works with special education students, and consistently goes above and beyond, ensuring that each child feels seen, heard, and empowered.

We thank our amazing support staff for all that they do for West Essex!
