State Assessments (Start Strong, NJGPA, NJSLA)

Beginning in the fall 2021, the New Jersey Start Strong assessments will be administered to students as a replacement for NJSLA which were canceled for the 2020-2021 school year. Students in the following grades/subjects will be required to take the assessment in October:
ELA - grades 7-10
Math - grades 7, 8, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II
Science - grades 9 and 12
Start Strong is an online assessment that takes 45-60 minutes for students to complete (excluding test accommodations for students with approved IEP/504 plans). Students will receive scores from 1-3. The score is meant to indicate a student's readiness for his/her current Math, ELA, and/or Science course.
Parents will receive Individual Student Reports (ISR) in each subject area that their child tests in. More information about the Start Strong assessment and ISRs can be found here.

A new 11th grade New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) was recently approved by the NJDOE and will be administered to the Class of 2023 in March. The Math section will consist of 2 Units (90 min. each), and the ELA section will consist of 3 Units (90 min. each).
