Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB)
Information Resource Center
Everyone at West Essex Regional Schools recognizes that all students have the right to feel safe, secure, and respected when they come to school. Everyone in the school community has the right to feel free from any threat of bullying or harassment. For that reason, we prohibit harassment against students in school, including harassment based on real or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender (including gender identity and expression), and to prohibit discrimination based on these same characteristics.
We at West Essex also strongly encourage students to report incidents to a school staff member, and pledge to create an environment where students can do so without fear of retaliation. It is necessary that we, as members of the West Essex Regional Schools' community, adhere to the anti-bullying policy proactively, fairly and consistently.
Upon an incident being reported, the district's school safety team will take any appropriate steps to respond quickly and decisively to student reportsof bullying. Students may use the Report of Harassment/Bullying Form to report incidents of bullying. Copies of this form can be located in the guidance department, building main offices, and by clicking here.
