Guidance & Student Services
 
The West Essex Regional School District Guidance Department is available throughout the day to assist students with a variety of issues, concerns and requests. 
 
The mission of the guidance program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. Counselors will work with educators, parents or guardians, and the community to facilitate a support system, ensuring that all students attending West Essex are prepared to perform at the highest level and become contributing members of society.

Important Announcements:

IMPORTANT AP ANNOUNCEMENT:  Beginning Wednesday, 1/25/12, registration forms for all May AP tests will be available in the Guidance office.  This year, the fee for each AP test is $87.00.  All registration forms and payments must be brought back to the Guidance department by 2/10/12 and please, only checks, made out to West Essex High School, will be accepted.  As written in our program of studies, "all AP students must take the College Board exam in May to receive the "AP" designation on their transcript".


Elective Course Change Information 2011-2012

Elective course changes will be accepted during the following time periods with this form. 

  • The first drop/add period is 6/13/11 - 6/24/11 (for the school year 2011-2012).
  • The second drop/add period is 9/6/11 - 9/20/11.
  • The third drop/add period is 1/25/12 - 2/08/12 (for second semester courses only).
2011-2012 Updated Honor Roll and High Honor Roll Criteria:

 

For eligibility to the Honor Roll students must have Bs and above.  No grade for any marking period can fall below a B-. 

 

For eligibility to the High Honor Roll students must have all A’s and above.  No grade for any marking period can fall below an A-.

 

 No grade weighting or special consideration is given for any class.  According to these criteria, students at all levels must perform consistently in all subjects to be eligible for either the Honor Roll or the High Honor Roll.   Students of all capabilities are held to the rigor and standards of the classes they have selected. 
 
2012-2013 SCHEDULING INFORMATION: 
 
Scheduling for the 2012-2013 school year will be underway beginning Monday, 2/6/12 when counselors will be meeting first with their rising senior students and parents/guardians. 

For any placement appeals, please click here for the placement appeal form.  All completed and signed appeal forms are due back to Guidance by 4/6/12.  Please read carefully the criteria for an appeal and please be cognizant of the deadline; appeal forms will not be accepted after 4/6/12.
