The West Essex Regional School District Guidance Department is available throughout the day to assist students with a variety of issues, concerns and requests. 
The mission of the guidance program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. Counselors will work with educators, parents or guardians, and the community to facilitate a support system, ensuring that all students attending West Essex are prepared to perform at the highest level and become contributing members of society.

The NJ Scholars 2017 Program is seeking nominees for its prestigious 4-week summer session, which will explore The Great War Era and its effects on our world today. Are you interested? Dear Class of 2018,

As Juniors, we would like for you to consider these two great programs and the opportunities they would provide for you on your path to college and beyond.
TELLURIDE ASSOCIATION SUMMER PROGRAM - Six week summer program that takes place at a major university (such as Cornell or the University of Michigan).  Highly competitive program that is given at no charge for the students selected. The program is described as "a challenging six-week, college-level seminar while living in a diverse, reflective, self-governing intellectual community with similarly motivated peers".  Students interested must be nominated by their counselor prior to submitting an application.  Counselors must submit nominations of interested students by 
December 1, 2016. 

THE BRONFMAN FELLOWSHIP - Bronfman is a fully-funded fellowship that is available to Jewish students of all backgrounds who are in their junior year of high school.  The program is seeking intellectually curious and mature applicants with a strong character.  The program includes an all-expense paid five-week trip to Israel and two seminars in New York City.  Students travel through Israel, explore their Jewish identity, connect to Israeli peers, and engage with thinkers, authors, artists, and educators, while learning about themselves and each other.  No Jewish educational background is required for eligibility.  If interested, please contact Ava Charne ( or visit the website (  The application deadline is January 4, 2017.
