Ms. Laura Drago earned her Masters of Arts in Social Studies Education from Montclair State University and her Certification in Supervision from Caldwell College. Mrs. Drago has continued her professional studies in alternative assessments, Multiple Intelligences, brain based research and best practices in education. Over the past 5 years, Ms Drago specialized her graduate work in Holocaust and Genocide studies at Seton Hall University, where she was awarded the Sr. Rose Theiring Endowment in Judeo-Christian Studies. She has been invited to guest lecture on the topics, most recently at Solomon Schechter Academy.

Ms. Laura Drago has been a teacher of social studies for 17 years for students in grades six through twelve. She has taught Advanced Placement European History, World History, World Geography and Cultures, Global Studies, as well as Holocaust and Genocide studies, with fifteen of those years at Montville High School.

As the Instructional Supervisor of World Languages and Social Studies, her goal is to lead the departments in effective teaching strategies for enhanced student learning, including differentiated instruction, and supporting the quality academic courses offered at West Essex. Her work with the administrative team has been to focus on quality classroom instruction to promote student achievement. Under her supervision and with her focus on global awareness, West Essex enjoyed its first, tremendously successful, International Day event.

In addition to Latin, Italian, French and Spanish, Ms. Drago is proud to offer Chinese Language and Culture in the World Language department beginning with the 2010-2011 school year. In the Social Studies department AP Government and Politics and the elective Global Studies will be offered as well.
