    Ground and Facilities Update

I would like to update you on our facilities and grounds projects this year.

    • Our band room in the high school is complete and is presently occupied by our music students.

    • Our new boilers are installed in the High School and ready for the winter.

    • Our window project in the Middle School is also complete.

    • Our Field and Turf project is on target for its timeline, however, there are some changes to the plan.  As with all construction projects, the construction company never knows what they will find when they begin the actual job.  When they were preparing for the field work, they came upon some work that needed to be done to the curbing and the track in order to have the project done correctly.  Unfortunately, that means lane one of the track had to be torn up in order to make the necessary repairs.

This repair work will impact the spring track season, since all lanes of the track will not be available for use. We knew from the beginning that the new track couldn’t be laid down until the weather is warm enough.  I know this is disappointing to the track team that expected to have a repaired track for this coming season, however, there were circumstances that called for the complete overhaul now and were completely out of our control.

Mr. Macioci has already made plans for alternate locations for spring track meets and practices.  I will keep you updated on the developments as they occur.

      Barbara Longo

      Superintendent of Schools
